New Stash and a Question

Hey everyone I got some new stash today.

Can you guess what project this is for?  ;). Surprisingly I had all the other colors I needed so I only needed about 15.  I got the fabric as well it's 28 ct white lugana 20x24.  If I calculated right the design should be 14x18 leaving plenty of room.  The best part is I had a gift card still so it doesn't count for sfs.

Now the question I have is what color/s should I dye the fabric?  I was thinking mottled gray maybe with a tint of purple. The colors are so bright I don't want to take away from them with a bright color.  I considered blue but I'm sick of stitching on blue.  So what do you guys think?  A lime green might be cool.

  1. Can't wait to see your start! Green generally goes really nice with purple so I like that suggestion! I think it would also look nice on a pale yellow or lemon... :)

  3. What project is this for? I'd have to see the picture to tell you what colour you should dye it. If it's something that's solidly stitched I wouldn't bother.

  5. Are you stitching the background for Rapunzel? If so, then as Dani said I wouldn't worry about dying the fabric... if not then a soft grey would be nice... or even a pale green
Can't wait to see what you end up doing!

  8. Did you get the background removed on the pattern? Otherwise the whole thing will be covered.

  9. Although I love hand-dyed fabric I only use it when some of the background is going to show, otherwise I choose a plain colour where any fabric show through will compliment the colours in the chart. Therefore, if you want to dye the fabric, I would choose a pale pink or lilac. But it's totally up to you - afterall, Paradise looks fine on the blue. :)

  11. Hmm, i'd be ornery and just dye the edges of the fabric that will be visible after stitching/framing! Soooooo a super dark purple! :D

Also I meant to comment on your Disney posts but my Internet is not playing well lately! I think I would just die to be served a [n innocent drink of tea] on the beach by Jack Sparrow! I can just feel my husband rolling his eyes at me ahahaaa. And those artwork pictures were great and would indeed make lovely patterns.
