Whew!

What is it about being in a hotel that makes me so tired?  I don't know but I seem to be too sleepy to stitch.  The good part is we're done with the first half of our move.  Well the actual moving part anyway.  We're staying in hotels for the next few weeks while we figure out our move cross country to California.  We had most of our stuff packed up and is waiting in storage and the rest we were planning on taking in the car.  The bad news is we overpacked and now we have to decide what to do with the rest of our stuff.  Yikes!  All my cross stitching is in the car with us and fits in two small boxes not counting 9 fabric tubes.  I think I need more stash ;).  We donated a lot of clothes and I'm thinking about getting some space bags for our pillows and bulky items so everything hopefully fits in the car.  We're probably going to have to ship though.

The packing was a mess.  My hubby and I are both procrastinators but he's worse than me.  The night before the movers came we only got 3 hours of sleep and about the same amount the next night.  We were packing stuff right up until we turned out keys in.  Luckily I have good friends who helped.  This is the first year we hired movers and I'm never going back.  Next time I'm paying for them to pack it too lol.

I haven't had much stitching time unfortunately.  I was expecting to have a lot of it in the hotel but we're still dealing with packing and hubby wants to go to all the parks before we leave which he just told me about.  *sigh* boys ;).  However, looking at my last picture I do have noticeable progress.  I've finished a page officially now and am about a third of the way into the next :)

Last time:

And now:
I'm actually a bit further than this but it's too dark for a picture tonight.  I'd say I'm down another 5 rows or so and have some stray stitches like 5 rows from the bottom.  Hopefully next time you'll see another page finish!

  1. Yes, your stitching stash should occupy space in your car or your mind gets crazy what box you put it in, haha. He's right, definitely enjoy the parks while you're there, take time to breathe:) Have a safe trip:)

  4. Good luck with the move. I've moved so many times that I hate it. Also, smart of you not to pack your stash on the moving truck. I would lose it forever for sure if I did that.

  8. Moving is rough, and I'm like you, a procrastinator. I'm happy to be where we are and I hope we won't move again for a long time. Good luck getting some stitching time!

  9. I don't know how you managed any stitching at all with moving and being in a hotel! I always find the lighting to not be good enough although maybe you packed your lights with your stitchy supplies lol! I'm sure you'll have fun at all the parks before you go, and be glad you did~ :D

  10. You have so much going on I think it's an achievement to put just a few stitches in here and there! Hope the move goes to plan!

  12. Wow! Seems like everyone is moving. Space bags work well as long as they are in a spot where they will not get pictured with anything. I love them. Nice progress on your WIP!

  13. Hi Heather,

Just found your post about moving, I did laugh because that is exactly what happened to me, I started packing two weeks ago and id not have enough time.

My husband was away and I was exhausted with all the packing, we ended up throwing things in boxes towards the end.
My craft room was the worst, I dare not say how many boxes I packed from that room, I could not believe how much stuff I had collected!

Enjoy your travels, I see you are in hotels, we are in a mixture of hotels and a motor home! Lol........ It's fun though!!!!

    Happy travelling.

  14. I agree with you about staying in a hotel makes you tired. It's very weird cause it's not like you have to worry about cleaning really. I hope you can find a way to fit it all in. LOL About going to the parks. Have fun!
